Discussion program on Co-operative policy 2012

The Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation organized a discussion program on July 1, 2012 on newly drafted Co-operative Policy, 2012 with the objective of sensitizing the employee of the Ministry on provisions made in the policy. In the program, Mr. Sudarshan Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary, presented a paper regarding the provisions made in the draft policy. Present in the program were Hon. Minister Mr. Ek Nath Dhakal, Secretary Mr. Keshab Prasad Bhattarai, Joint Secretary Mr. Krishna Prasad Lamsal, Registrar of the Department of Cooperatives Mr. Kedar Prasad Neupane, Under Secretaries, Principal of Co-operative Training Centre and other staff members. Participants expressed their views and provided feedback for further improvement of the policy. The Secretary expressed the hope that this kind of discussion program increases the ownership of the concerned stakeholder towards the policy. In this connection, he added that the ministry has already made available the draft policy for comment and feedback to the concerned line ministries and organizations. Hon. Minister in his concluding remarks expressed that the new policy should create an avenue to establish co-operatives as backbone of the national economy and prove itself a viable tool for poverty alleviation.
